Don’t Trash Your Car!

One crafty way to keep your car clean

So I had a little fun this afternoon. I have some laminated designer fabric just waiting for a project. After cleaning out my car for the millionth time this afternoon (In the rain no doubt) I decided it was time for a car trash can. I've never seen anything at places like Target that I liked, so I decided to make a custom can.
Here is the end result. I made it with a little velcro attachment so it will hang on the side of my console. I placed some Velcro on the inside as well to keep it closed. I also used boning in the top seam so it stays stiff enough for me to use it one handed…Gotta keep my attention on the road, and I can't expect my kids to actually use it yet especially since they are strapped to their car seats so snugly!

The finished product laying flat on my cutting table.

Opened up with some fabric to hold weight. See the hook and loop closure.

This is the backside with the loops for attaching to the side of my console.

Sewing for Children

So it went from a labor of love for my own A-girl last year to a gift for a cousin and now I have offered them for sale. They are wonderfully cozy and made to order infant carrier covers. They have a waterproof vinyl underside in the bottom area and they are made from quilters cotton or flannel and quality Minky that I buy in downtown Los Angeles every year. This one pictured was for my cousins daughter who was born just a month ago.

Red Minky and Black and White Quilters cotton in a floral pattern, just perfect for the sweet little girl who rides in it.

Original pattern made by yours truly and available through special order begining at $100
